PunditWire Bids goodbye

Dear PunditWire Readers,

Seven years ago we created PunditWire as a unique platform for political speechwriters to comment on the news. Because speechwriters do their work under a veil of anonymity, we typically get to know them only through the words and phrases that others voice. PunditWire gave them a megaphone to speak for themselves.

As you know from reading our site, we’ve published thoughtful, provocative, and insightful posts that have generated buzz, trended online, and attracted influential readers like you. Any number of our articles have been republished in other sites and newspapers and even books.

But as with all good things, it’s time to bid PunditWire adieu. We will be ceasing operations on August 31, which means we no longer will be publishing new content on our site. PunditWire won’t vanish — to those of you who want access to the hundreds of articles we’ve posted over the years, you will still be able to find them on our site.

We’ve written these past seven years for you, our readers. You have our gratitude for following us, reading us, sharing us, engaging us — and being the most important part of our PunditWire community.

Thank you.

Not an original thought, but I felt strongly enough to consider writing something about it for PunditWire.

Until I noticed a little box on the Washington Post editorial page about their “Next Great American Pundit” contest. First prize: you get to write 13 op-eds for the Post. Sorry PW. I entered, made their group of 50 finalists, then the next group of ten—before finishing seventh in the third round. Continue reading CLASH PRIZES
